West Coast National Park |

|
The West Coast National Park lies only one hour's drive (100 kms) from Cape Town. You reach the main entrance to the nature reserve from the R 27. A few kilometres before Langebaan it turns off to the left (sign-posted). The gate is open 24 hours. The road soon forks: on the left you get to the stunning bay of Kraalbaai. Here one can swim in the turquoise-blue water. To the right you get to the Geelbek Visitors' Centre with a bird hide, an educational nature path and a restaurant for snacks. From here you can drive on to Langebaan. The roads in the park are, with the exception of the Postberg road, tarred.Within the West Coast National Parks there is no accommodation for tourists. The Geelbek Goldfields Environmental Centre only offers dormitories for youth groups of max. 110 persons. Tourists must stay over in Langebaan or Yzerfontein. Particularly nice is the camping and caravan park of Yzerfontein - directly at the sea. More information at the park's office, Tel +27-22-7722144, Fax +27-22-7722607.
