Franschhoek is particularly famous for its good restaurants and is know as the gourmet capital of the Cape. Renowned are the Ballon Rouge Restaurant in Reservoir Street (Tel 021-8762651), the Le Quartier Français Restaurant in the hotel of the same name in Main Road (Tel 021-8762151) and the Chez Michel in Huguenot Rd, Franschhoek's oldest restaurant. You can visit many of the numerous wine estates in the Franschhoek Valley for wine tasting. The most famous is Boschendal between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek on the R 310, which also houses a very famous restaurant (Tel 021-8704200). Recommendable for wine tastings are also the La Motte in Main Road (Tel 021-8763119), Môreson in Happy Valley Rd (Tel 021-8763055), Dieu Donné in Uitkyk St (Tel 021-8762494) and L'Ormarins in Groot Drakenstein (Tel 021-8741026).
