Luederitz (Lüderitz) has a rough, but healthy ocean climate. Gale force winds are not a rarity, especially from September to February. The air can then contain quite a bit of sand as well. In the mornings there is sea fog at times. Calm days are just lovely in Luederitz. Rainfalls are extremely low (under 50 mm per year).
Luederitz disposes of a beautifully situated camping ground on Shark Island. You will also find the Lüderitz monument here. From there one has a marvellous view of the Atlantic and the harbour entrance. The camping ground is run by the municipality. Unfortunately not all of the stands are protected from the wind.
