The National Road B1 leads from Windhoek to Ovamboland in the north of Namibia and further up to Angola.

In Okahandja the B2 turns off in western direction. It is the best and shortest connection to the seaside resort of Swakopmund and to Namibia's seaport of Walvis Bay.

The best access road to the Etosha National Park is the C38, which leads from Otjiwarongo to Outjo and then to the camp Okaukuejo at the main entrance gate of the park. The road is tarred all the way and easy to travel. One should spare at least three days for the game reserve. All roads in the park are gravel but usually in good condition. Accommodation is available in the restcamps Okaukuejo, Halali and Namutoni. And there are private lodges outside the park.

It is recommended to leave the Etosha Park in Namutoni in the east and drive towards Tsumeb. If you want to visit the Caprivi Strip and the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, take the B8 turn-off in Otavi to Rundu (Rundu - Victoria Falls).

The roads in the rugged Kaokoveld north-west of Opuwo can only be travelled in well equipped 4x4 vehicles.
