The A8 from Beit Bridge to Victoria Falls - once a major tourist route - is nowadays, due to the political turmoil in Zimbabwe and the resulting decrease in tourist numbers, a much lesser used road.
Accommodation along this 700 kilometre long stretch is limited, mainly to the city of Bulawayo, the Hwange National Park and Victoria Falls. Petrol provision can be a problem in Zimbabwe (espcecially unleaded fuel), so fill up your tank while still in South Africa.
If you want to go to Namibia, take the Kasane (Botswana) turn-off in Victoria Falls. Visit the Chobe National Park just behind the border.
You cross the border to Namibia in Ngoma Bridge. From there it is only approx. 70 kilometres, before you reach the tarred Caprivi Highway in Katima Mulilo. Continuation: Victoria Falls - Rundu.
