Travel Route:
Johannesburg -
Mpumalanga -
Kruger National
Park
The N4 leads from Pretoria through the province of Mpumalanga to the Kruger National Park and further to Maputo, capital of Mozambique. Because it is one of the main tourism routes of South Africa, it is usually heavily travelled, particularly over weekends and during holidays.
A visit to the area of the Blyde River Canyon is highly recommended, whereby one leaves the N4 in Belfast towards Lydenburg and drives via Sabie and Pilgrim's Rest to the Canyon Nature Reserve. The drive goes through the spectacular highland of the Drakensberg ranges of Mpumalanga.
The Kruger Park in the Lowveld will be reached via Hoedspruit and then to the Orpen Gate on the R531. The shortest access leads past Nelspruit and White River or via Hazyview.
