Visa and Entry
A valid passport is required. Travellers from European countries additionally need a visum which is issued at the border free of charge and is valid for 30 days. Border posts of Swaziland are open at least from 8 am to 4 pm, some for longer: Lavumisa / Golela 7 am to 10 pm, Lomahasha / Namaacha 7am to 8 pm, Mahamba 7 am to 10 pm, Mananga 8 am to 4 pm, Matsamo / Jeppe's Reef 8 am to 8 pm, Ngwenya / Oshoek 7 am to 10 pm.
Driving a Car
One drives in the left lane, has to buckle up and adhere to the speed limit of 120 km/h, unless traffic signs in settlements further limit the speed. Frequent radar controls. If you drive a rented car, ask the rental company for a transit document. The roads are in general in an acceptable condition. In the rainy season - November to April - smaller roads can become impassable.
Currency
Swaziland's money is the "Lilangeni" (plural "Emalangeni") which is linked to the South African Rand 1:1. ZAR banknotes (not coins) are usually being accepted for payment, but in small shops one might have to have the local currency. The banks are open on weekdays from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm and on saturdays from 8:30 am to 11:30 pm. Credit cards are widely accepted.
