On the two-day hikes one sleeps over three times in the wilderness. Basic, though beautiful thatch-roofed 2-bed huts were erected at interesting spots. In the evenings, when sitting at the camp fire, the ranger tells stories and adventures of the African bush.The day starts very early with coffee and rusks. At midday a simple lunch is served, and in the evenings a barbecue will be held or a one-pot meal prepared over the fire.
Olifants Trail
At the banks of the perennial Olifants River. The camp offers a stunning view of the river. A lot of game, also the big cats, elephants and buffaloes. At the river there are living crocodiles and hippos. Exceptionally rich bird life. The hiker will surely hear the call of the Fish Eagle.
Sweni Trail
An adventurous path through wonderful African wilderness. Wide, sun-drenched savannah with a lot of game, mainly zebra and wildebeest herds, giraffes, buffaloes, elephants and a pride of lions. Even rhinos have been spotted. The wilderness camp lies near Nwanetsi and overlooks the Sweni river.
Wolhuter Trail
This hiking trail lies in the southern part of the Kruger Park which once was patrolled by the legendary rangers Harry and Henry Wolhuter. The wilderness camp is situated halfway between the Berg-en-dal and Pretoriuskop restcamps. This region has particularly many white rhinos.
A good health condition is a prerogatory for participating in the hikes on the Wilderness Trails. And malaria prophylaxis is urgently advised. Alcoholic drinks may not be taken along.
