To the west, the diamond prohibited zone begins. It stretches across vast regions along the Namibian coast. You could actually find diamonds here which is why it is prohibited to stop here or even leave the road. Oranjemund on the mouth of the Orange River is totally closed to visitors.

The Orange, Namibia's southern border river, flows quietly and peacefully and the river valley is hardly affected by tourism. Camping in the wild is possible almost everywhere. The river bed is sandy, the water clean and clear. A gravel road leads from Noordoever at the border along the Orange River to Rosh Pinah.
