Margate / Ramsgate
|
||||||||||||||
Uvongo: Very beautiful beach with Blue Flag status. Tidal pool. Lagoon. Uvongo River Nature Reserve at the river of the same name with subtropical coastal forest. Beautiful circular hiking route. Margate: Beautiful wide and long beach with a lot of bustle. Lots of entertainment for young people/big children. Good shopping. Ramsgate: To the south, Margate goes over into Ramsgate. A radical change in atmosphere, though. Tranquil, well cared-for beach resort. One of the best beaches for swimming, with Blue Flag status. Lagoon with "Tanglewood" forest and Waffle House.Restaurant Tips: La Petite Normandie on Marine Drive, authentic French cuisine, not cheap. Sea Pearl, a truely excellent Fish & Chips outlet on Marine Drive with deliciously prepared fresh fish at good prices. Take-aways and sit-down. Southbroom: Beautiful, protected and wide beaches. Tidal pool. Beach between lagoon and sea. Upmarket residential area. Munster and Glenmore Beach: Beautiful, quiet beaches for walking and swimming. Glenmore Beach is the best spot to experience the spectacular Sardine Run some time between May and July every year. |
