Map of Durban available.City Hall The City Hall in West Street houses the municipality and the library, the Natural Science Museum and the Art Gallery. The museum is open daily. No entrance fee. Old Court House MuseumThis building in Aliwal Street (corner of Smith Street) is a National Monument, built in the year 1866 as the seat of the high court. It houses the Local History Museum and documents the history of the city of Durban. Open: Mo - Sat 8:30 am to 4 pm. No entrance fee. Tel (031) 3112229. |

| Kwa Muhle Museum The museum lies in Ordnance Road and is highly recommendable. It documents the history of racial segragation and the suppression of the black population during the Apartheid era. Open: Mo - Fr 8:30 to 16:00. No entrance fee. Tel (031) 3112223.  Old FortThe Old Fort - situated a bit off the centre in Old Fort Road - is a National Monument. It is surrounded by a park. In 1842 the fort was besieged by the Boers. The Warriors' Gate Moth Museum - next door - deals with South Africa's military history. Accommodation in Durban |
