The wine growing areas in the Cape, called Cape Winelands, are stretching to the east of Cape Town up into the mountains of the escarpment. Particularly in the centre of the Winelands - from Paarl via Franschhoek to Stellenbosch - white and red wines are produced which ranged amongst the best wines in the world. Here wine has been grown from the earliest settlements in the 17th century on by the French Huguenots and German vintners, in an ideal climate and a stunning landscape. You can go for wine tastings on many of the wine farm.
