The scenic Garden Route is one of the most popular travel destinations in South Africa. The most attractive stretch lies between Mossel Bay and the Storms River mouth in the Tsitsikamma National Park. At the Garden Route's wonderful coast rugged cliffs alternate with picturesque bays, wide sandy beaches with dense evergreen rainforests. Many rivers spring in the adjoining Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma Mountains and meander in wide loops through the green coastal plains, eventually flowing into the Indian Ocean.
