The museum is well sign-posted. It is located in the Bhunga Building, the former seat of parliament from the days of Apartheid, when the Transkei was still a "homeland". With the exhibition "The Long Walk to Freedom" the museum documents the life of the freedom fighter and Nobel Prize winner Nelson Mandela, to whom the country owes the peaceful transition from the racist regime to a democratic South Africa. South Africans of all colours and backgrounds revere him.The museum also offers guided tours to Qunu and Mvezo where the former President was born and spent his childhood. The museum is open on weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm and on saturdays from 9 to 12:30. Telefon: 047-5325110 Email: info@mandelamuseum.org.za |
