Swellendam is not only an ideal stopover, but due to its central position also an excellent starting point for tours of the different nature reserves in the area like De Hoop, Bontebok National Park, Marloth Nature Reserve or a trip to the wine route of the Breede River Valley and to Montague in the Klein Karoo. All this within a circle of maximum 65 kilometres.
A visit to the local Drostdy Museum and the Fairy Garden is recommended.
Golf: Golfers hold the 9-hole golf course with its wunderful view of the Langeberg mountains in high esteem. The greenfees are moderate and the course is obviously much more quiet and less frequented than the courses in the Cape Town area.
Drostdy: The Drostdy Museum lies in Swellengrebel Street.
