Old Post Tree
The Milkwood Tree with the legendary boot, nowadays a statue, can not be missed.
Bartholomeu Diaz
Museum
The Museum complex documents the history of the mussel bay. It was built in 1988 in memory of the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Bartholomeu Diaz. Centre piece is a replica of the famous seafarer's Caravelle, rebuilt in Portugal in its original size. On this vessel Diaz had explored the world in the 15th century. In 1988 the replica of the 23 metre long two-master sailed in his honour from Lisbon to Mossel Bay, using the original route the discoverer had taken. The journey around the stormy cape took almost half a year. The museum lies in Market Street and is open daily. Tel (0)44 6911067.
Lighthouse
The St. Blaize Lighthouse is towering high above the cliffs of Mossel Bay, offering a spectacular view of the entire bay. You get to it by taking the steps or driving up in a car. It is a popular scenario for wedding ceremonies.
