Kenton-on-Sea Visitor Information
|
During the school holidays, Kenton-on-Sea is a popular holiday destination for South Africans, and then accommodation is hard to find. But outside the holiday times, it is very quiet and one can have a wonderful break. The beaches are deserted and invite you for long, relaxing walks.
Particularly recommendable are outings on horseback along the northern beach and through the dunes. Riding trips are offered every day, and you can also join in, if you are not an experienced horseback rider. An unforgettable adventure!
At the Boesmans River there is a little marina, where you can - at an affordable price - hire a motorboat with a 15 hp engine to explore the beautiful river upstream. A licence is not required.
Shopping at Kenton-on-Sea is limited, but the Spar supermarket offers all the necessities. In nearby Port Alfred, just 20 kilometres away, one can find a greater variety of goods.
"Stanley's" is the best restaurant in Kenton, situated a bit out of town on the road to Grahamstown. From the terrace in the lush subtropical garden it has a splendid view of the Kariega River below.
Also, the huge Kariega Game Reserve lies on this road. Besides exclusive accommodation, it offers game drives and boat trips, for day visitors as well.
