Wild Coast - Eastern Cape

The Wild Coast Sun Country Club lies at the Indian Ocean on the "Wild Coast" in the Eastern Cape, a few kilometres south of Port Edwards. It is part of the Sun International chain, which also owns the adjacent casino and entertainment centre. The course by the American golf course designer Robert Trent Jones II is scenically and from the game's point of view very attractive, which is why it was chosen as a venue for several PGA tournaments already.

The course, very well maintained throughout, lies at a river mouth and also runs along steep coastal cliffs so typical for the Wild Coast. The course is quite windy and requires precise strokes. The fairways are broad and unsheltered, the roughs mostly dense and the big greens guarded by numerous bunkers and water hazards. Hole 13 (par 3) is known as the best short hole in the country. The ball needs to go across a ravine with a waterfall.

The Wild Coast Sun course is one of the most difficult ones in South Africa, but also a beginner can enjoy it. It also offers a Golf Academy.

The clubhouse lies high above the ocean and the course and boasts splendid views.

The course is usually strongly frequented, also on account of the adjacent casino complex.

Access: From Durban take the N1 to the south. The course lies about 5 km south of Port Edward.
