Mount Edgecombe Country Club lies in a landscape of green hills north of Umhlanga near Durban. The course has a long history. The original sugar farm was founded in 1859 already, and the golf course development started in 1924. The original course opened in 1935 and the second one in 1977. Because it is actually two golf courses situated in expansive parklands surrounded by lush tropical vegetation:

Course 1, the old one. The fairways are lined by old pines and mighty gum trees. There are several water hazards and multi-tier greens. Paths for golf carts. A course for the accurately targeting golfer.

Course 2 lies beyond the road. It is vast with big distances between the holes. A river meanders through the hilly terrain. A spectacular course for players of all standards.

Mount Edgecombe has an elegant clubhouse with a restaurant surrounded by palm trees. Several other restaurants. Also very popular is the driving range, which is open daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Three golf pros are available.
Access: On the N2 from Durban, take the turn-off Mt. Edgecombe. Turn left and follow the sign-posts.
