 Kwandwe Private Game Reserve is situated in the beautiful Great Fish River region in the malaria-free Eastern Cape. A victory for far-sighted conservation, this pristine 22000-hectare reserve boasts a variety of African wildlife, including lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo.
A member of Relais & Chateaux, the Reserve has four exclusive lodges - Kwandwe Great Fish River Lodge, Uplands Homestead, Ecca Lodge and the new Melton Manor. Kwandwe Great Fish River Lodge consists of nine intimate suites, set on the lush banks of the Great Fish River. Each air-conditioned suite features a private plunge pool and thatched viewing deck. Uplands Homestead - a three-bedroomed private-use villa - offers an alternative experience of the Reserve, available only for the sole use of a group or family of up to six people. This restored 1905 farmhouse features a full-size swimming pool and gazebo, as well as its own dedicated ranger, tracker and chef. Ecca Lodge is the superb jewel in the crown of Kwandwe. Innovative, stylish and intimate, it comprises just six exclusive suites with en suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers and spacious viewing decks. The Lodge features a gorgeous rim-flow lap pool, interpretive centre and interactive kitchen. Melton Manor is a sole-use safari villa with four ensuite bedrooms. This spacious u-shaped lodge is characterised by high ceilings and deep, cool verandas, each overlooking the central courtyard and its large swimming pool. The bedrooms each have their own spacious bathroom and innovative “butler hatches” for discreet room service.
