Just over a hundred years ago during the Anglo - Boer War 1899 -1902, General, Sir Redvers Buller set up his headquarters on Mount Alice, on the very farm on which Raymond and Lynette Heron established Spion Kop Lodge. The homestead has been restored in beautiful, tranquil, secure grounds and transformed into a colonial-style lodge.
